Background Bowl Games

Hi stamping friends!

Today I have something a little different for you! A friend in our Ohio Stamp Junkies group, Gale Thompson, presented us with a challenge. She asked for volunteers to create cards with backgrounds
she had piling up in her craftroom. How fun is that?

Here is the beautiful, sparkly blue background that Gale sent me. I never think to stencil glitter pastes and other mediums on colored cardstock, but I really love this look !

It immediately made me think of water and ocean waves so I was inspired to make a fun playful water themed card. Stay tuned, because I actually decided to cut up the background and make THREE cards!

For the first card, I created a sunny sky with a Catherine Pooler stencil and Distress Oxide inks. I cut a portion of the background along the "wave lines" and popped a cute Sugarpea Designs penguin on an action wobble to make it look like he is playing in the waves.

I had another penguin colored and ready to go so I added him to a card as well. This time, I used a sunray background paper from Sugarpea Designs, and popped him up using foam tape. It looks like he caught quite a big wave!

Finally, I was able to incorporate a background piece that I had created and was waiting for the perfect card to use it on. This stretch of sandy beach was created with Brutus Monroe Sandcastle embossing powder, and was the perfect addition to this beach scene. The little Coastal Cuties are from Sunny Studio Stamps, and the beach umbrella is from Lawn Fawn. I stenciled the sunny sky with a Hero Arts cover die cut and Distress Oxide inks.

This challenge was a lot of fun to participate in and it inspired me to look at the backgrounds and "leftover" images I have sitting around in MY craftroom and put some of them to good use!
Thank you, Gale!

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Karen Burniston Dies/Dare 2B Artzy Blog Hop

Hi Artzy friends!

Welcome to the KB Riley - Karen Burniston Dies and Dare 2B Artzy Collaboration Blog Hop!
You should have arrived from Fran Sabad's blog

Today I am excited to share a project using some of the fabulous products from both of these companies.

To celebrate our blog hop we have four great prizes to give away. You will have the chance to win one of two $25 Gift Certificates to use on the KB Riley - Karen Burniston Dies website or one of two $25 Gift Certificates to use on the Dare 2B Artzy website.

I created this summer themed pop up-card using the Karen Burniston Circle Tag Book Pop-Up

These pop-up dies look complicated, but are really very easy to put together using the short video tutorial on the Karen Burniston site, and it fits in an A2 envelope for mailing!

The Circle Tag Book Pop-Up was fun to embellish using Dare 2B Artzy papers, stamps and dies, as well as some additional Karen Burniston dies.

For the inside of my card I used Karen Burniston Beach Charms, seashell stamps and dies from the Dare 2B Artzy Seas the Day set, and papers from the Dare 2B Artzy Seas the Day collection.

The charm dies are so cute! Check out the quick video for those too. Although they are small, you may discover unexpected ways to embellish them to give them a big impact!

I decorated the front of my card with Dare 2B Artzy Ocean Waves and Anchors Away stamps and dies, and the Karen Burniston Word Set 6 - Summer.

To create the "ocean" I stamped the waves stamp from the Dare 2B Artzy Ocean Waves set with embossing ink on blue mirror cardstock (a less glossy, or matte finish works best to achieve a metallic look.) and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I was really happy with the result!

Make sure you join the hop and comment on everyone's blog post for your chance to win one of these prizes. Winners will be randomly chosen from the comments left on ALL THE POSTS received by Friday 26th June 2020.

Next on the hop is Kelly Booth!

Here is the entire hop lineup, in case you get lost -
