Shadow Box Cards

I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's recent post on shadow box cards and wanted to try some of my own using Dare 2B Artzy stamps and dies. I have since picked up some additional tips from Cindy Sartain's recent virtual event where she made an adorable shadow box card too!

Whenever I try a new-to-me interactive card or fun fold card, I start simple, and make a "prototype" using white cardstock. I never want to waste colored or patterned cardstock in case it doesn't work out or I don't enjoy the technique.
Well, I enjoyed making these shadow box cards so much that I couldn't stop, and I made three with some cute Dare 2B Artzy images that I had already colored and die cut!

As I mentioned, my first card base is using white cardstock, and is an A2 size card. It features images from the Raccoon Party stamps and dies, including the cute little "splat" die. I also used the Double Dot Circle die to cut out the window in the front of the card.

The raccoon is suspended from a strip of acetate attached to the left side of the shadow box.

The next card is also fairly simple but I covered the front and inside panels with paper from the All the Buzz collection. The image and sentiment are from Puppy Kisses. The sentiment banner is created with a die from the Wavy Slimline Framelit set. This is a 5" x 7" card.

This puppy is attached to the back of the card with an action wobble spring.

My final shadow box card is also 5" x 7" and was created with images from the Honey Bunny stamp and die sets.
The grass "hill" was cut with a die from the Curvy Slimline Border dies. The patterned papers are from the  Home Grown collection.

The bunny is suspended on a strip of acetate attached to the right side of the shadow box.

There is no limit to the amount of layers and dimension you can achieve with a shadow box card. I'm excited to try some more complex designs in the near future!

I hope you are inspired to try a new-to-you technique or card fold using Dare 2B Artzy stamps and dies!

New Slimline Die, Two Ways!

Hi Artzy friends -

Today I am sharing two cards created with a fun new set of dies from Dare 2B Artzy called Retro Slimline Background die. These dies are available now!

First I created a birthday card, using the little dies that are included in the set to inlay them back into the detailed slimline cover die. See the cupcake, candles, hearts and stars?! I also inlaid some of the navy blue pieces back into the retro layer.

Because there is so much going on on this card front I didn't want to cover any of it up with a sentiment. I will include my birthday greeting inside the card. The striped background paper, cut with the stitched rectangle die that comes with the set, is from the All the Buzz collection.

Because of my placement of the "Hi" and the other inlaid elements, some of which I popped up for a little more dimension, this is a horizontally oriented card.

I couldn't stop creating with this new die set and wanted to try a vertically oriented card next.

This card is much simpler (and calmer!), as I chose to layer my retro design white on white. I really like the texture and dimension of this background! The image and sentiment are from the new Crazy 4 Cocoa stamps and dies, also available now. I  also added in some hearts from both the Retro Slimline Background dies set and the Crazy 4 Cocoa dies. The sentiment strip is cut with a die from the Curvy Slimline Border dies set. The cup of cocoa and the sentiment are both popped up - just for fun!
This card could be used for several occasions, including the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday!

I love that this die can be used in either orientation, and has so many design options for inlaid die cutting!

Time for Holiday Cards!

 Hi Artzy friends-

Happy Thanksgiving to you! I hope you are all having a nice quiet, safe holiday. I'm sending you all virtual hugs, with the hopes that we will all be able to see other soon for the real thing!

If you're like me, you have good intentions of working on your holiday cards early, but the real card making frenzy doesn't start until after Thanksgiving. Please don't tell me that your cards are already made, signed, and addressed! Haha!

My husband saw me making this card and loved it! He wants me to make it for all of our family and friends this year. While I don't usually mass produce my holiday cards, this one wouldn't be too difficult to do, so I will definitely be making more of them!

I cut a piece of white cardstock with the largest die from the Wavy Slimline Framelit die set. I love the nice finished look that a dotted border gives on a card panel. I then cut the bottom of the panel with one of the wavy dies from the Curvy Slimline Border die set. The border dies in this set are also dotted, so they pair nicely with the slimline framelits. I placed the white panel with the curved edge in my Misti so I could set up my image and sentiment stamps to stamp right where I wanted them. The stamps are from the Just Chillin' stamp set.  This image is super quick and easy to color and I just love the little penguin sitting on the polar bear's head!

This set has some other super cute images, as well as some snowflakes included.

The snowflakes I used here were from the Slimline Snowflake die set.  Some were cut out of glitter paper; some were glittered with Stickles. You could use any kind of glitter or glittery medium you'd like to make your snowflakes sparkle!

After my panel was complete I cut a strip of paper from the Snow Much Fun collection and adhered that along the bottom of my card base. I then cut a scalloped edge on a strip of solid blue cardstock using another die from the Curvy Slimline Border set. The curve on the scalloped border die is the same as the curve on the die I used on the bottom edge of my card panel, so I adhered that on the back, so that the scallops just peeked out the bottom of my white panel. I then adhered the piece to my card base, lining up the top edges.

You can find lots of winter themed and slimline products at Dare 2B Artzy for all of your holiday card
making!
And we have a sale to help you with that! Now through Monday, November 30th, enjoy 20% off all stamps and dies with code 202020.
